Nothing Special; Just an Everyday Jerk
Something tells me President Obama and his teleprompter will have to have another heart-to-heart talk on the flight back to D.C.
ABC News’ Jake Tapper details President Obama’s latest deviation from his well-crafted and well-”prompted” message.
President Obama, in his taping with Jay Leno Thursday afternoon, attempted to yuk it up with the funnyman, and ended up insulting the disabled.
Towards the end of his approximately 40-minute appearance, the president talked about how he’s gotten better at bowling and has been practicing in the White House bowling alley.
He bowled a 129, the president said.
“That’s very good, Mr. President,” Leno said sarcastically.
It’s “like the Special Olympics or something,” the president said.
One can only speculate at the damage control that will be done tomorrow in response to Barry’s latest screw-up. But make no mistake, someone will have to jump under the bus tomorrow morning.
Perhaps Gibbs will tell us something snarky, like this is just a byproduct of the stress induced upon our President by Rush Limbaugh’s Republican cabal.
Perhaps Biden will just tell us something absurd and rising to a whole new gaffetastic level, like, “President Obama only compared his bowling to the Special Olympics. He made no mention of the fact that he sometimes appears ‘gay’ by rolling the ball like a ‘girl’…which is true and the world would test him if they knew.” Clearly, I’m not advocating for this by the way…just pointing out that Vice President Biden insulting another group is the only way President Obama can direct attention away from him long enough to get back to socializing the country.
Websites, like Michelle Malkin, Hot Air and even the Politico seem to be debating whether this story is a real issue or not.
It is. The bottom line is that, while there are so many substantive points of political and ideological philosophy upon which one can criticize this President, this insult is worth noting. It is yet another example of an arrogance which knows no bounds, and even serves as a reminder that with President Obama self-deprecation appears to require insulting someone else at the same time.
