Further Evaporation of My Daughter’s College Fund
As if my daughter’s college savings account was not already depleted by the election of President Obama, I now have to live with the fact that those lousy savings bonds that the grandparents gave her won’t be worth anything either–if the dollar’s not around, I’m assuming they’ll be hard to cash.
Geithner is “open” to abandoning the dollar in favor a global currency. According to the Politico:
Geithner, at the Council on Foreign Relations, said the U.S. is “open” to a headline-grabbing proposal by the governor of the China’s central bank, which was widely reported as being a call for a new global currency to replace the dollar, but which Geithner described as more modest and “evolutionary.”
