UPDATE: Thank Bishop D’Arcy for Boycott
UPDATE ON PRESIDENT OBAMA’S ATTENDANCE AT NOTRE DAME COMMENCEMENT:
Integrity and principles triumph and walk out on the idea of President Obama’s participation at the University of Notre Dame’s commencement ceremonies:
The Catholic bishop of South Bend, Indiana, will not attend graduation ceremonies at the University of Notre Dame because he disagrees with the stem-cell research and abortion views of the commencement speaker — President Obama.
Unfortunately, the wrong guy is exercising the proper judgment and staying home. If President Obama has an ounce of class, he will acknowledge the schism developing as a result of his attendance and respectfully back out of this invitation.
In the meantime, we should continue expressing disappointment and criticism at the University’s present stance. However, at the same time, I urge everyone to send praise and thanks to Bishop D’Arcy for upholding the principles and integrity of the his faith, and the faith of anyone who considers President Obama’s positions on abortion to be morally reprehensible.
For anyone clueless and/or living under a rock, educate yourself on this obvious problem, courtesy of National Review Online. After that, I reiterate, send thanks to Bishop D’Arcy.
